Jungle Love in Tenerife

Isn't it funny how you so often see or come upon something you are thinking about? It happened to me the other day when I was in Alcalá on the south-west coast of Tenerife. I had been out walking with a friend and was on my way to the bus stop to make my way home when I spotted some artwork that was absolutely ideal for a song I am promoting.

It is my own song, under my stage name Bard of Ely, and entitled Jungle Love and is currently entered in the YouBloom Music Awards song contest. Now of course I have naturally been thinking a lot about ways of advertising my song and spending a lot of time on the Internet canvassing for votes at Facebook and other sites.

I could hardly miss seeing the artwork on a garage door and as a brightly-coloured mural. There were images of all sorts of jungle animals and birds and a sign for AMAZONIA. It was actually an advert for the pet shop it was part of that wasn't open at the time I was there. The shop is called Amazonia and sells some exotic species such as tropical birds, reptiles and small mammals that are kept as pets.

Luckily I had my camera and snapped some photos of the art work. If only I had had these images the other day I was thinking. You see, I recently put together a video for Jungle Love and uploaded it on YouTube. I had some art showing a lion and a tiger but this artwork was so much better.

There is a leopard, lions, macaws, a toucan, a flamingo, a cobra and an alligator. The Amazonia picture has a waterfall too. The animals are well painted and all in bright colours that stand out.

I might not have had the images in time to make the Jungle Love video but I can still use them to generate some more publicity by putting this hub together. Publicity is what my song needs to attract people to listen and vote fro it. So far it has been in the lead which is great but the voting ends on this Sunday night coming and I cannot guarantee that other rivals will not suddenly get a big boost in the numbers of votes they have.

The YouBloom Music Awards is a music and song contest with many heats and rounds. There are cash prizes and opportunities to further your career in the music industry for any lucky winners.

There is also a team of celebrity judges that last year was headed by former Boomtown Rats singer Bob Geldof. Conor McNicholas the former editor of the NME and DJ and producer Sarah Lewitinn aka Ultragrrrl were two more of the judges.

Last year I managed to get as far as the semi finals of the YouBloom Music Awards contest with my song Mañana . Until this stage the winners of the rounds are determined by public voting online but in the semi finals the judges, who are all professionals from the music industry, get to listen to the entries and cast their votes.

My song didn't make it any further then but I am an optimist and am hopeful that Jungle Love will get that far and get heard. This time Bob Geldof and the team will certainly know who I am and should be impressed with my persistence. There haven't been any other acts that have got through to the semi finals more than once to my knowledge. I hope to be the first.
